Maths & Physics

Why do I need this?

If you really want to understand and enjoy the process of learning some of the more technical subjects, then a good foundation in maths and a grasp of basic physics is important. Measurements and their units, formulas and equations, Newton’s three laws, classical mechanics, how gasses behave, the doppler effect and the speed of sound; perhaps topics you haven’t thought of since your GCSEs.

How can I learn it?

I run a series of evening lectures and cover these topics and much more. The lectures are designed to be fun and visually entertaining, with lots of demonstrations. Do you know the difference between work and energy, stress and strain, power and force, gas and vapour, speed and velocity, distance and displacement, heat and temperature, current and voltage? You will be dealing with a lot of science during your PPL (and ATPL) ground school, so this is where to learn it or revise it.

How will it help me?

Apart from helping you to understand the PPL (and ATPL) syllabus and pass the exams, this course will help you to better understand the environment in which you are operating your aircraft. An intellectual grasp of any situation will lead to better understanding and ultimately to making better decisions.
